Asking Permission

I connected with the land today.

I asked for her permission to be here.

I received a feather just moments after.

I sat on a hill, soaked up the sun into my face, my feet.

I witnessed crow, and black-eyed junco, western blue jay, robin, rabbit, sage, juniper.

What I did not realize was that in precisely one week from asking permission, the land would make an exchange. Unlimited time in nature, trees to sit under, birds to listen to, and a place to take my fears, sorrows, dreams. All this for a costly exchange - the healing power of nature, for the price of my precious companion. The land would teach me grief. Rest in peace Dinosaur.
